Romania was elected on the ICAO Council for a three-year term

On the 4th of October 2022, the 41st Session of the Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization completed the election of its new Council, the governing body of the Organization.

Romanian was one of the 14th candidates and was successfully elected for a seat on the Part III – states ensuring geographic representation – of the ICAO Council.
Consequently,  according to the Memorandum of Understanding of the Central European Rotation Group, the Romanian representative on the ICAO Council automatically becomes the President of CERG.

 
The election process for the ICAO Council was divided into three parts, with the following States elected:

PART I - States of chief importance in air transport

Australia*, Brazil*, Canada*, China*, France*, Germany*, Italy*, Japan*, United Kingdom*, and the United States*.

PART II - States which make the largest contribution to the provision of facilities for international civil air navigation

Argentina*, Austria, Egypt*, Iceland, India*, Mexico*, Nigeria*, Saudi Arabia*, Singapore*, South Africa*, Spain*, and Venezuela.

PART III - States ensuring geographic representation

Bolivia, Chile, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea*, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jamaica, Malaysia*, Mauritania, Qatar, Republic of Korea*, Romania, United Arab Emirates*, and Zimbabwe.
