The 41st Assembly of ICAO and the next Council elections

The 41st Assembly of ICAO will be held in Montreal, Canada, from 27 September to 7 October 2022. ICAO's 193 Member States and a large number of international organizations are invited to the Assembly, which establishes the worldwide policy of the Organization for the upcoming triennium.

During Assembly Sessions, ICAO’s complete work programme in the technical, economic, legal and technical cooperation fields is reviewed in detail. Assembly outcomes are then provided to the other bodies of ICAO and to its Member States in order to guide their continuing and future work

The Council is a permanent body of the Organization composed of 36 Member States elected by the Assembly for a three-year term. The next ICAO Council elections will take place during the 41st session of the ICAO Assembly (27 September – 7 October 2022) and the ECAC candidates are:

  • PART I: States of chief importance in air transport (4 ECAC MS - France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom);
  • PART II: States which make the largest contribution to the provision of facilities for international civil air navigation (3 ECAC MS - Austria (ABIS), Iceland (NORDICAO) and Spain);
  • PART III: States ensuring geographic representation (1 ECAC MS - Romania (CERG)).
